AutonomouStuff acquired by Hexagon

Hexagon has taken over AutonomouStuff, which supplies components, engineering services and software that enable autonomy.

US-based AutonomouStuff was founded in 2010 and specializes in turnkey platforms for autonomous vehicle development, robotics and data intelligence innovation. Its platforms are already being deployed in a large number of projects worldwide.

Marco Reiling, senior business development manager for Europe, said, “We are still a kind of startup, with close to 90 people, so the question is: ‘How can we grow – internationally – and build more cars?’ Hexagon is a global enterprise that can help us grow faster, into more countries and help more customers.

“We have a presence here in Germany and in China, and we are hoping to go after more markets like India, or the UK, to get a local presence and local teams on the ground, because it’s important to be in front of local customers and have local support. A company like Hexagon can help us there.”

“The acquisition of AutonomouStuff accelerates Hexagon’s ability to move our customers beyond the data impasse of IoT,” said Ola Rollén, Hexagon’s president and CEO. “We’re particularly interested in technologies that are the most disruptive – those capable of leveraging the vast potential of data being generated by connected things, integrating AI, edge-cloud orchestration, mobility, and data visualization into autonomous connected ecosystems.”
