Autonomous Vehicle Technology World Expo 2018 off to a strong start

The first day of Autonomous Vehicle Technology World Expo, which is being held in Stuttgart, Germany, 5-7 June, 2018, has been hailed a success by exhibitors and visitors alike. The show, which is exclusively focused on the technologies and services that will help make autonomous vehicles a reality, has already seen a number of exciting new announcements and product launches from vendors (see below).

Yesterday (Tuesday, 5 June) also saw the event’s three dedicated conferences get underway: Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium, Autonomous Vehicle Interior Design & Technology Symposium Europe, and Autonomous Vehicle Software Symposium. Delegates were treated to some fascinating insights from a wide range of expert speakers, including respective keynote presentations from Mathias Klumpf, test & development engineer, Audi AG; Mats Jonasson, technical expert, Volvo Cars; and Christoffer Kopp, product owner – UX Autonomous drive, Volvo Car Corporation.

Early feedback suggests a very productive first day has been enjoyed by attendees so far. “We are getting a lot of new contacts,” said Johan Hägg, head of marketing and sales, NIRA Dynamics. “After only a few hours at the show, we’ve already had good discussions with OEMs.”

Nishant Mittal, supply chain manager at Maruti Suzuki, added, “I am impressed by the amount of precision components on offer.”

Jens Herrmann, a test engineer at Daimler, noted, "Autonomous Vehicle Technology World Expo is where I come to look for test car design techniques and tools. I’m also looking for consultants to get test design tools – it’s a great place to meet the right people."
