Modular modeling
Aimsun - Stand: AV2000

The latest release of Aimsun’s Next Mobility modeling software offers more powerful and flexible modeling for CAVs. Thanks to the software’s adaptable nature, it can accommodate new technology as it emerges. Currently, there are already parameters that allow modelers to control vehicle behavior by vehicle type, and there is also an interface for external control agents and a technical preview of the V2X software development kit (SDK).

The V2X SDK features the most common V2X message protocols and features adjustable transmission range and probability of successful transmission. This simulates the physical and network layers of a Vehicle Ad-hoc Network (VANet), making it possible to test virtually any connected vehicle application by implementing the resulting actions at any level, from close-up detail for a single intersection to test how fast driverless vehicles can pass through, to testing pollution levels using data aggregation across a large network.

Modeling at an appropriate scale, from a single junction to a city-wide road network, is an important part of what Aimsun Next already offers with integrated macro-, meso- and microscopic models. The design of the V2X SDK in Aimsun Next, with its inherent extensibility and flexibility, is part of the same philosophy.
