Autonomous vehicles test partnership
Intertek
Intertek is the official testing and operations partner for the American Center for Mobility (ACM). This purpose-built facility focuses on testing, validation and self-certification of connected and automated vehicles and other mobility technologies, and operates at the historic 2km2 Willow Run site in Ypsilanti Township in southeast Michigan.
Some of the new technologies being developed and tested at ACM include ADAS, V2V and V2I communications, and advanced behaviors at all levels of autonomy per SAE J3016. The facility is designed to mimic real-world scenarios in a controlled environment and includes a variety of surface and road conditions, including a 2.5-mile (4km) highway loop, a six-lane boulevard, overpasses, elevation changes, a curved tunnel, and a mixture of new and weathered pavement. These areas can be used to test the functionality of lidar, camera systems and GPS and related connectivity to ensure the systems function as designed.
