Today, a virtual vehicle only needs eight hours to travel the same distance a real-world car would cover in more than one month. For those miles to count, however, the simulation environment has to be up to scratch. Automotive Artificial Intelligence (AAI) has therefore developed an intelligent simulation environment for testing and validation of automated driving and ADAS functions.
The AAI ReplicaR environment makes it possible to safely and efficiently test the boundaries of automated driving software in highly customizable test configurations. The test runs can either be based on scenarios designed to challenge specific driver assistance systems or the scenarios can follow the logic of endurance tests running millions of miles in realistic environments with programmable traffic, weather and road conditions based on high-definition maps of real-world roads.
Other traffic participants are simulated based on distinguishable AI-trained agent profiles derived from real-life driving behavior. The realistic 3D environment and integrated sensor simulation enable reliable testing of customer vehicle perception in a multitude of variations.
