Anurag Ganguli

Dr Ganguli leads deep learning and computer vision researchers and software engineers to enable autonomy for commercial vehicles, focusing on perception and adjacent areas including localization, offline event mining to provide continuous improvement of machine learning models, diagnostics and calibration. Prior to joining Plus, Dr Ganguli was a research manager at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). His previous roles also included developing collision warning systems for cars and autonomous drones at Delphi and UtopiaCompression Corporation. Dr Ganguli received a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 2007.


The road to mass deployment of highly automated trucks

The autonomous vehicle industry has evolved beyond science projects that test the theory of self-driving technology and is now asking questions around deployment methods and what the critical pieces are in order to deliver on the promises of this technology. While driverless trucks may be a few years away, highly automated driver-in systems can provide substantial benefits today. In this talk, we’ll discuss the value propositions of such a driver-in product, which include fuel savings leading to reduced carbon emissions, increased driver comfort leading to improved driver retention and overall increased safety. In addition, we’ll discuss the technological challenges associated with building an autonomous product that can be deployed at scale.
